ADVOCACY & INDUSTRY ISSUES
BOMA Advocacy Efforts Are Energized
BOMA MIAMI supports BOMA International’s lobbying efforts that have resulted in many recent victories for the commercial real estate industry. The passage of the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015 included a permanent extension of the 15-year depreciation on qualified leasehold improvements, BOMA’s top tax priority; fixes to the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA); and a straight two-year extension of the energy efficiency deduction for commercial buildings.
While these are important victories, there are many issues left to address in 2018 and beyond.

BOMA Florida Working for Us
BOMA Florida strives to serve as a source for news related to commercial real estate in Florida.
Working together with BOMA Florida, BOMA MIAMI has been able to move the needle by using the power of our Region.
BOMA achieved a major victory on behalf of members in the battle against "drive-by" lawsuits. H.R. 620, the "ADA Education and Reform Act" of 2017, sponsored by Reps. Ted Poe (R-Texas) and Scott Peters (D-Calif.) passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 225-192 with bipartisan support. This issue has been a top legislative priority for BOMA International for several years..
